    • In 1971 Bocage had 4 of the top 10 players in the world Rod Laver, John Newcomb, Cliff Drysdale, and Roy Emerson come for a special prize money tournament. Rod Laver beat Roy Emerson in the finals. John Newcomb was a 7 time grand slam champion, ranked number one in the world in 1971, and was also the Wimbledon champion that year. Rod Laver was an 11 time Grand Slam champion. Cliff Richey had 45 tournament titles in his career and Roy Emerson was a 12 time Grand Slam champion!

  • Tennis Attire

      White tennis attire is required on the courts. A maximum 10% color trim per article of clothing (such as, but not limited to tights/leggings, sun protective shirts, wristbands, headbands, socks, hats, caps and visors) is allowed.

      A. From October 15 through April 15, colored outer garments such as traditional tennis warm-ups (heavier tennis pants and tennis jackets), sweaters, sweater vests, other vests, long sleeve tops, and tights/leggings (in solid white or solid black colors only) are permitted. Such garments described above are defined as outer wear that is designed to function and be worn in colder weather. Said items must be worn over white tennis attire as defined in Section A.
      B. Except for USTA tournaments, shoes must be predominantly white. All shoes must have smooth sole bottoms suitable for clay courts.
      C. Tank tops and sleeveless shirts for men are not allowed.
      D. The Tennis Chairperson, General Manager and Tennis Director have the right to levy a $25 fine per incident for failure to comply with these requirements. Any member has the right to appeal a fine to the Board.
      E. Members and their guest are required to adhere to the clothing attire rules. It is the responsibility of each member to enforce the rules with respect to his/her guest. All others, including but not limited to unsponsored guests, non-member league participants and tournament participants are required to abide by the tennis attire rules or forfeit access to the tennis courts.
      F. Notice of alleged attire violations should be directed to the General Manager, Tennis Director or Tennis Chairperson along with detailed information including but not limited to the nature of the offense, date/time of offense, the member’s name and photographs.
      G. It shall be the responsibility of the General Manager to ensure that local and regional tennis league directors/managers are fully informed of the tennis attire rules of the Bocage Racquet Club on a quarterly basis.
      H. Tennis attire is also part of the club’s Buy-laws 5.19.2011.

  • Junior Tennis Programs
    • The Bocage Junior Program uses the USTA recommended play based progressive format of 10 and under tennis.To find out more go to The mission of the Bocage Junior Program is to provide sound fundamental instruction to all levels of players in an atmosphere that challenges students physically and mentally!  We use a live ball learning style and we want to allow each player to find their own best form within the frame work of proper stoke techniques. We endeavor to create an atmosphere that challenges players to continually raise the level of their game, set and achieve personal goals, and to develop an appreciation for a sport that they will be able to enjoy for a lifetime. Stroke production, technique and fundamentals; drill situations; physical conditioning and match play are all part of the program! Our Junior Development program features all levels and many of our players go on to play college tennis. The students in our tournament group will receive coaching at designated tournaments throughout the year as part of the program.       Tuesday & Thursday 4:00 to 4:30 - Pee Wees Age 4-5 - Member rate $10; Non member rate $15.

      Monday - Friday 9am—11pm All levels.
      Members - $28 per class; Non members - $36 per class.
      Pee Wees Age 4-5 Tuesday & Thursday 11:00 - 11:30. Member rate $10; Non member rate $15.
      Junior Program billing: Fees are billed monthly for the classes attended.

  • Tennis Staff
    • Non members may take lessons with any of our tennis pro staff! Contact any of our pros for availability. A guest fee of $10 for adults and $5 for children will be added to the lesson fee. Non member lessons must be paid for by credit card or check in the pro shop.

      Lisa is from Johannesburg, South Africa where she finished in the top 10 in juniors.
      Collegiate Highlights:
      Lisa played for William Carey College in Gulfport, Mississippi and was selected team MVP and NAIA 2nd team All-American.  She also played for University of Texas at Arlington and had a top 30 national ranking in doubles. she was a two-time recipient of the Southland Conference Player of the Year and her team won three Southland Conference Championships. Lisa earned a BS and MS in Psychology with Magma cum Laude honors.

      Jeff is originally from Florida and was a Tennis All-American and captain at LSU on the 1988 NCAA finals team. Jeff had a top 50 ATP doubles ranking from 1990-1993 and advanced to the round of 16 in doubles at the U.S. Open, Wimbledon and Australian Open. He was th all-time winningest Men's Tennis Coach in LSU history from 1997-2017. His teams made the NCAA Tournament 17 times in 20 seasons including 2 Final Fours, 2 SEC Championships, and 4 sweet sixteen appearances. During his time at LSU he coached 23 All Americans and three of his former players are currently top 100 in the world doubles rankings including # 14 Michael Venus who recently won the 2017 French Open with Shreveport native Ryan Harrison. Jeff is married to Debi and they have two boys Cameron (10) and Connor (13).

      Matt was ranked 1 and 2 in as a junior in Louisiana in the 12s, 14s, and 16s. Top 5 Southern player in 12s and top 10 in 14s. Represented Louisiana and the South in the Junior Zonals and Davis cup tournaments. Competed in many State, Southern, and National tournaments as a junior. Graduated from Oxford Academy in Westbrook Connecticut in 2005. Played #1 singles and Doubles for Division I Centenary College in Shreveport, La. Matt also made the dean’s list and earned a Bachelor of Arts in History in 2010. Matt spent two years coaching at the YMCA under Johnny Wahlborg in an elite junior program and following that was the Assistant Pro at the Baton Rouge Country Club under Jason Noonan. Matt is a USPTA certified Elite Professional and is one of our traveling coaches for our junior tournament players.

      Chrissy is from Las Vegas, NV. She played Division I tennis at Eastern Washington University and graduated with a BS in Exercise Science. Chrissy just finished a strength and conditioning internship at LSU and is also a Certified Personal Trainer.
      Collegiate: Played number 1 doubles and number 2 singles and was a member of  the Student Athlete Advisory Committee.
      Junior tennis: Nationally ranked top 50 in the 14's and 16's and top 100 in the 18's. Achieved her highest national ranking of #44 after competing in the Copper Bowl, Easter Bowl, the Junior Orange Bowl International Championships and the USTA National Open Championships. Sectionally ranked top 3 in the 14's-18's for Intermountain. Was simultaneously ranked #1 in the 14's and #2 in the 16's. Represented Intermountain two years at Zonals and then two years at Intersectionals. Attended Advantage Tennis Academy in California her sophomore year of high school. Finished third in the high school State Championships her senior year.

    • Our pro shop has a great selection of ladies, men's, and children's clothes. We are a full service pro shop and offer 24 hour racket restringing! Ask any of our staff about string type or tension, or the latest in rackets or shoes! Bocage members receive a member discount on clothing and racquets and shoes! We also have the latest racquets with plenty of demos to try. Members will find our prices rival any competition! With a nod to traditional tennis wear, all tennis players are required to wear 90% white clothing at Bocage.
