TENNIS RULES

GENERAL:

1. A copy of the Tennis Rules shall be available in the Pro Shop, is printed in the Member Directory, and is on the club web site.

2. The tennis rules may be amended by the Tennis Committee with approval of the Board of Directors. The General Manager/Tennis Director and the Tennis Chairman shall have the authority of the Tennis Committee and the Board of Directors for any interpretation of these rules. Play shall be regulated by the Tennis Committee, and supervised by the General Manager/Tennis Director.

3. MEMBERS SHALL REFRAIN FROM REPRIMANDING OR ABUSING ANY EMPLOYEE FOR ENFORCING THESE RULES.

ETIQUETTE:

1. Play shall be governed in accordance with the United States Tennis Association and the code. Any abuses (i.e., of Club property, balls, language, racquet throwing. etc., will not be tolerated. Violators may be asked to leave the court and may be subject to further disciplinary action.

FINES:

1. In the event that a member, spouse, child, or guest, violates a Club rule, the member shall be notified of the violation and the General Manager/Tennis Director will be instructed by the Tennis Committee Chairman to impose a fine of $25.00 and make note of said fine in the next report to the Board.

 

ATTIRE:

1. White tennis attire is required on the courts and practice walls. A maximum 10% color trim per article of clothing is allowed.

2. Colored warm-ups are allowed (9/18/03).

3. Shoes must be predominantly white with smooth sole tennis shoes.

4. Tank tops and sleeveless shirts for men are not allowed.

5. The Tennis Chairperson has the right to levy a $25 fine per incident for failure to comply with these requirements.


COURT ASSIGNMENTS:

1. Players must register in the Pro Shop for court assignment. Adult (18 years or older) preference is at least two adult players on the court (in either singles or doubles). Adults playing with advanced juniors have the same preference as two adults.

2. Adult preference - Courts 1-16.

3. Teaching Courts and Junior preference - Courts 17-22

4. Members that want to feed from a basket must play on a Junior or Teaching Court. (11/16/00)

5. At least two players shall appear in the Pro Shop to fill out a court assignment ticket. Once a court is assigned the players have the court for a period of 90 minutes. Once assigned, the starting time for that court may not be changed. (11/24/02)

6. Courts shall be assigned on a first come, first served basis.

7. Players who have completed an assigned court period and wish to sign up for another court shall go to the end of the waiting list.

8. If play has been interrupted due to inclement weather, court assignments automatically become void. Play is not to resume until permitted by the Tennis Director or his staff, at which time new court assignments will be made. If players desire to assist in drying courts, they must have the approval of the Tennis Director. Locker room and court towels are not to be used for this purpose.  Only the Tennis Director or his staff can determine if a court is playable. Those determinations are to be posted on the court assignment board in the Pro Shop.

9. Players are asked to notify the Pro Shop if leaving their courts before their assignment expires. If a clay court is open it must be taken before bumping adults that are currently playing; unless the open court is next to a lesson or the ball machine.

10. Courts 14, 20, 21, & 22 may be used for the ball machine.

 

GUESTS:

1. Members must accompany and register their guests in the Guest Log in the Pro Shop prior to play. There must be at least one member per court.

2. Guests are only allowed to play two times in any one month.

3. Extended guest plan for houseguest: A member may declare a guest living with them for a short period of time as a houseguest. The member pays a $25 fee per Guest, allowing them unlimited use of the courts and pool for a 2-week period provided the member accompanies them. No guest can use this plan more than one time per year.

4. Guest fees shall be $7.00 (2/2007) per guest per day during the week and $10.00 (2/2007) per guest per day on the weekends except that the guest fee shall be $3.00 per day per guest for those guests who are in the member's immediate family. Immediate family is defined as grandparents, parents, brothers, sisters, adult children, and grandchildren.

5. Junior guest fees shall be half that of adult fees.

6. There will be no guest fees levied for a member's immediate family who resides over 40 miles from the Club. In the event that a member plays with a guest that has not been declared, the Tennis Chairman has the right to levy a $25.00 fine per guest per day.

7. Guests may only take lessons with a member. Non members enrolled in the Junior Program may take private lessons. (6/2007)

 

TOURNAMENTS:

1. The number of tournaments per year shall be left to the discretion of the Tennis Committee. In the case of inclement weather, tournament players have priority on the first playable courts.

2. The balls used for tournament play must be purchased from the Pro Shop.

 

COURT POLICIES

Tournaments:

1. Tournaments have priority over casual play, lessons, and league. The number of courts allotted is at the discretion of the Tennis Director or the Tennis Chairperson and will be posted in the Pro Shop.

LEAGUE:

1. The courts used for league play shall be determined by the Tennis Committee and approved by the Board of Directors.

2. All players on a Bocage team must be Bocage members in order to play as a Bocage home team.

3. All regular and make up matches must be approved and scheduled through the Pro Shop.

4. Make up matches will be assigned courts depending on availability.

 

DAY LEAGUE (Wednesday morning):

1. 15 courts maximum (10 front, 5 back)

2. League has first priority, followed by lessons, followed by casual play.

3. Lessons have priority only on the back courts.

 

NIGHT LEAGUE:

1. 6:30pm – Maximum of 5 courts - courts 1-5 (one match).

2. 8:00pm – Maximum of 10 courts – 1-5 and 11-15 (2 matches).

3. The bumping of casual players by league players is not allowed on courts that are not scheduled for league play.

4. If the 6:30 matches run over time and there are open courts the 8:00 p.m. matches may utilize any courts that are available.

5. All make up league matches must be approved and scheduled through the Pro Shop.

 

FRIDAY NIGHT MIXERS:

1. Mixers have priority over casual play, lessons, and make-ups at 6:30 p.m. The number of courts allotted depends on participation and is up to the discretion of the Tennis Director.

 

TOURNAMENT POLICIES:

1. Senior Invitational, NTRP, and Junior Invitational - by invitation only.

2. Club Mixers and Other Fun Tournaments are open to all members and their guests.

3. Club Championships (Junior, Singles, Doubles, and Mixed) are open to members only.


CANCELLATION POLICIES:


I. Lessons

A. 24-hour notice - no charge

B. 12-hour notice - or day of lesson 1/2 charge

C. No show - full charge

 

II. Mixers

A. Before Thursday at noon - no charge

B. Less than 30 hours of notice - full charge

C. No show - full charge

 

III. Tournaments

A. Before the draw is made - no charge

B. After the draw is posted - full charge

 

 

 IV. Away Mixers

A. One week in advance - no charge

B. Less than one week - full charge

C. Found a replacement - no charge

 

V. Tennis Weekend Get-Away

A. One month notice - no charge

B. Before two weeks - 1/2 charge

C. Less than two weeks notice - full charge

D. Less than two weeks notice with replacements - no charge
